Open Air Socially Distanced Dialogue Workshops
for WRITERS in SALISBURY and SURROUNDING REGIONS
An opportunity to write for Salisbury Fringe
Discover the hidden quirkeries surrounding Bourne Hill House: The Secret, Poesy and Herb Gardens, sculptures, ancient trees, 18th century ice house, sundial, stone memorial urn, and old city ramparts, and create a short piece that could be performed on Zoom for Sunday 4 October.

NB More dates may be added if these are oversubscribed.
On the day, writers will be given an extraordinary writing challenge, and we will:
- Focus on the sense of touch: texture, shape, form, weight.
- Explore the grounds, footpaths and ramparts.
- Discover characters and stories inspired by the objects in the natural surroundings.
- Have time to write in the open air.

MEET: The Secret Garden, Bourne Hill House, Bedwin St, Salisbury SP1 3UZ
DURATION OF WORKSHOP: One Hour
PARKING: Nearest is College Street carpark adjacent to The Secret Garden and Police Station. Follow signs to the Police Station. Parking also available in Salt Lane carpark.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: The Secret and Poesy Gardens, and the tarmac road along by Bourne House lawn and the police station are wheelchair user accessible; however, the footpaths around the perimeter of grounds are uneven, made of wood chip and with protruding tree roots.
BRING: A folding chair. Notebook & pens. An open mind, preferably your own.
Optional: Hand sanitiser (you may want to touch some of the quirkeries), mask, brolly, parasol, hat, flask …
In case it rains…. we’ll scribble under brollies… and weep silently.

SALISBURY FRINGE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
THE BRIEF:
- A dramatic duologue with your own title, written for performance, that could be performed on Zoom by 2 actors
- Length: 3-minute scripts (rule of thumb 450 words max)
- Presentation: Word document. FONT 12pt, double line spaced with wide margins. Your name to appear on front sheet only
- Maximum 1 piece per writer
DEADLINE: Tuesday 15 September 2020 (midday)

THE FREE PERFORMANCE: Actors will perform Selected Pieces on Sunday 4 October 2020 pm
